The Council Hall Pune (now Vidhan Bhavan) was built starting in 1870 during British rule and completed that year . Originally a private residence belonging to General Robert Phatre, the British government purchased the property and expanded it to serve as a legislative building. It is a heritage site constructed with stone and brick and currently houses various government offices including that of the Mayor and Deputy Mayor of Pune.
