Dr. Suresh Advani works as a consultant in the Sir H. N. Reliance Foundation Hospital and Research Center's Medical Oncology division.
Through the International Cancer Research Technology Transfer (ICRETT) program, he received specialized training in bone marrow transplantation and medical oncology at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Centre in Seattle, Washington, USA, in 1981. He then received a study grant from the International Union against Cancer (UICC) in 1986 to work as a fellowship at Yamagiwa-Yoshida Memorial International Cancer, where he helped establish bone marrow transplantation in India.
Advani is credited with performing the first successful bone marrow transplant in India.
Dr. Advani, a Padma Bhushan (2012) recipient, has authored more than 600 papers. He has presided over various professional bodies and received numerous honors. He currently serves on the editorial boards of numerous scientific journals and is a professor of medical oncology at Tata Memorial Hospital.
