Husseny Bakery holds the distinction of being one of the first bakeries established in Pune, or "Poona" as it was known then. The bakery's story began in 1932 when Late Mr. Mirdehghan .S. Murteza founded it in Bhawani Peth. Initially, it served the exclusive purpose of supplying freshly baked goods to the Poona cantonment, a tradition that continued even after India's independence.
In 1972, the founder's son, Dr. S. M. M. Irani, who held a PhD in Economics & Political Science, joined the family business. The bakery later moved to its current location on Taboot Street. Now run by Dr. Irani, Husseny Bakery has been a continuous family enterprise for more than seven decades.
A visit to the bakery is often described as a journey back in time, as much of its traditional character remains unchanged. The recipes have been passed down through generations, ensuring that customers can still enjoy the same distinct aroma and taste of freshly baked goods. The bakery has cultivated a large and loyal following that spans three generations and reaches across the globe.
